Unleash the Thrill: Inokim OXO Scooters and Your Safety First

Luxury Scooter by Inokim

The Inokim OXO, clocking in at an impressive 65 km/h, promises an exhilarating ride through the city's streets. Who wouldn't want to experience that thrill? Zooming around town on your OXO can be a fantastic adventure, but your safety should always be a top priority. Accidents can happen, but by following these vital safety tips, you can enjoy your scooter without compromising your well-being.

Safety Gear:

Helmets: Wearing a helmet on your scooter is always important, however the type of helmet you wear matters. Wearing a certified bicycle or skateboard helmet is always good for safety. However, with E-scooters becoming more and more popular, a new kind of helmet has emerged. A full head helmet, akin to a motorcycle helmet. This kind of helmet not only protects your head, it also ensures your chin, teeth and face won’t be scraped up in any kind of fall.

Elbow and Knee Pads: These pads aren’t necessary on an E-scooter, however we recommend that riders should wear them. Our flagship brand, Inokim, has fast scooters with the slowest topping out at 35 km/h. Wearing pads while riding means that your elbows and knees will have extra padding to protect against bruises, breaks and roadburn.

Gloves: Gloves can be another way to protect yourself on one of our scooters. Gloves not only help improve grip on the handlebars, but they also protect your hands in case of an accident.

The scooters:

Once you have safety equipment that fits you, it is important to get to know your scooter. Inokim scooters are extra durable, so problems won’t arise often, however if and when they do it is good to know the issue and bring the scooter to a shop to get it fixed.

The brakes: Brakes are one of the most, if not the most important feature on your scooter. Sometimes the brakes to a scooter can go out and one of your brakes will not function properly. Don’t worry, as this is usually an easy fix, tightening the brakes. However, make sure both front and back brakes work properly as you need both to slow down!

The tires: Checking up on your tires often is important! Tires can wear down and become flat, making the ride dangerous for you or your scooter. When a tire is flat, make sure to pump it up as a flat tire can damage the wheel mechanism itself leading to an overall more nasty issue. If the tire doesn’t stay filled, it is important to bring it into a shop as the tire or inner tube can be punctured and needs replacement. Checking up on your tire is also important, as after lots of use, the traction on the tire wears down. When this happens, losing traction can happen, which can lead to accidents. Replacing a tire is an easy fix, and one that ensures your safety! Make sure to bring your scooter into the shop if the tire loses traction and needs any replacing.

Where you ride:

Rules and regulations for e-scooters differ everywhere. Make sure to check your city’s regulations on where you can ride your e-scooter, however, we can give you some rules of thumb to follow on where to ride your scooter.

Stick to bike lanes. Bike lanes are the best place to ride e-scooters. They are protected from pedestrians, cars and anything else that could get in your way. However, bike lanes are not always available. If you can’t ride in a bike lane, riding in the road can be the best option. This may sound scary at first, however riding on residential or smaller roads is a safe and an effective way to get around on your e-scooter. If possible, avoid sidewalks as riding your e-scooter on the sidewalk is unsafe for you and pedestrians.

Weather Conditions:

Even though this is Dubai, most days are sunny and clear, it is always important to know the weather before using your e-scooter.

Do not ride your scooter in the rain. This is dangerous as scooters can lose traction more easily in the rain, but this can also break components in the scooter. With the most recent rain storm in Dubai, ScootUp received a slew of repairs regarding water damage to electrical components in scooters. Make sure visibility is good as fog can impact your reaction to obstacles you may encounter. Always turn on your lights when riding when dark out or during times of low visibility.

Riding an Inokim OXO e-scooter is an exhilarating experience, but safety should never take a back seat. Equipping yourself with the right safety gear, understanding your scooter, adhering to local regulations, and being cautious in adverse weather conditions are crucial steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. With these safety tips in mind, you can confidently explore the city, knowing you've taken the necessary precautions for a thrilling yet secure adventure. Stay safe, and happy scooting!
