Folding Electric Scooter With A Seat
One thing I love about electric scooters are the portability I get with them. However, comfort is something that has always bothered me. My commute is especially long, almost 30 minutes, and there's no reliable public transportation option. I live in the Marina and commute to the Palm to work, so driving is also arguably an even worse option. One thing that has really changed my commute is adding a seat to my electric scooter. There are different options for seats on scooters, mainly scooters with attachable seats and scooters with built in seats. I'm going to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of both.
Getting a scooter with a built-in seat is nice. First of all, not having to manually install the seat is great. I love being able to just hop on rather than having to attach and detach the seat. The seat doesn't wiggle around and putting the seat on the scooter can be a pain. The con of this is that the seat can sometimes be too far or too close to the handlebars. The bigger issue for me are the seats being too far. You can deal with being squished up against the handlebars, but it really sucks when you're too far, and have to reach for everything. It does however make for a better-looking scooter. Attaching the seat makes for a klonky looking scooter. Sometimes the seat looks to small, the colors look weird, it doesn't always match. When it comes with the seat, it's built into the scooter making it look seamless in design.
Having a detachable seat also has its pros. First off, it allows for versatility in almost every measure. I don't like the restriction of scooters with attached seats, as there are only so many brands. Higher end escooter brands don't have options with a built-in seat, only attachable so I like being able to have more brand variety. Also, being able to detach a seat does have its perks. Sometimes, folding with a seat in can be a pain, so having the option to detach is amazing, especially when you're somewhere like the metro. Plus, when I take my scooter into work, I detach my seat so I can fold completely. Another pro of the detachable seats are the customization of the seats. I enjoy being able to pick my preferred seat height, where it goes on the deck and the type of seat. It's nice to have as some built in seats really don't have much customization.
The long-standing debate over attachable versus detachable escooter seats is a long standing one in the escooter community. I personally like detachable seats more for the customization and variety that comes with it. However, whichever you choose will be great!
