Elevating Your E-Scooter Experience: Must-Have Accessories for Dubai Riders

Must-Have Accessories for Dubai Scooter Riders

I’ve been riding electric scooters for a long time. Some come with cool and new features, however there are some accessories I just can’t ride without. Here are a couple of accessories I have fallen in love with and would recommend to any rider.

Mobile Phone Bracket

This one is essential. I would recommend a mobile phone holder to all electric scooter users. I didn’t have one until I upgraded from my Ninebot to an Inokim and I must say, this is a life saver. When I was going somewhere new, I used to awkwardly keep my phone in my hand and glance at it occasionally to follow directions. Not only inefficient but also dangerous. I would ALWAYS miss turns and had a couple of major wobbles. With a mobile phone bracket I never miss turns and I am safer not having to constantly glance at my phone.

Bag on Front

A bag for your scooter is another item I would consider essential. I always do grocery shopping on my scooter. I hate driving such short distances, so an electric scooter just makes sense. I had an incident before getting a front bag where my grocery bag broke and conveniently, everything I had just bought was either in a glass jar or eggs. A complete day ruiner. After that I bought a front bag and wow, it has been convenient. Not just for groceries or miscellaneous objects, but I love keeping my charger in there. It's convenient for when I go to work or go out with people, if my scooter ever needs charging the charger is in the bag, all I have to do is find an outlet.

Metal Lock

A metal lock is really important for your electric scooter. I had an incident not too long ago near the Dubai Mall with one of my scooters, and someone cut the lock. It was a basic bike lock, so I assume whoever took the scooter was able to easily cut it with bolt cutters. A metal lock is essentially bolt cutter proof, adding an extra layer of security. I would specifically recommend a foldable metal lock as they look nicer and fit better on the scooter. One I would really recommend is the Inokim lock, as it is foldable, comes with its own key and has a little holder you can put on the side of your scooter making it really convenient.

Remote Lock

A remote lock is another really convenient tool. If you know the feeling of going somewhere quickly, but not there long enough to lock your scooter, this is perfect for you. A remote lock works essentially like a car key, you can ‘lock’ your scooter without manually locking it. It makes your scooter inoperable until you unlock it again with said key. This tool has really alleviates my anxiety when I pop into a shop and leave my scooter outside for a second. Instead of looking for a place to lock it, I just leave it outside and use the key to lock it. This one is a bit hard to find in some places, not a ton of places carry it. If you’re looking for this one, I got mine installed at ScootUp, it's a quick ordeal as the shop just hooks it up to your electrical components and you’re good to go.

Fast Charger

A fast charger is always good to have. I strongly recommend against using it every time you charge your electric scooter, as it does degrade your battery quicker than just using a normal one. However, it is nice to have one when you’re in a pinch. Out of all the electric scooters I’ve had, charge time usually ranges from 6-12 hours for a full battery of charge. Especially if you have a bigger scooter, a full charge can take forever. When I’m in a pinch, it quickens the charging time so I can have just enough juice to make it back home.

Helmet

When riding an electric scooter you NEED a helmet. I cannot stress this enough. Everyone will eventually fall on a scooter, and a helmet just insures your important bits are protected. Another thing I will say is that all helmets are not the same. Some helmets are safer than others when it comes to electric scooter riding. I would personally recommend a full face helmet that covers your chin. These are safest when it comes to falls and crashes. However, these are harder to find, as these are specifically made for electric scooters and can be quite expensive. Plus, I totally understand if you don’t want to wear that big bulky helmet everywhere. A simple skateboard or bike helmet also works and keeps you just as safe. I would push more towards skateboard helmets as skateboarders fall more than bikers and the helmets are designed to absorb the blow better.

Water Bottle Holder

A water bottle holder is another component I would strongly recommend. I bring my water bottle everywhere. I used to ride around just holding the water bottle. If I went over too big of a bump or made too sharp of a turn I would drop the bottle. I broke and dented countless bottles doing this. A holder has pretty much eliminated this situation from happening. It's really nice because it's only a small attachment, not bulky and doesn’t affect the ride.

Rollie Wheels

This one has been a lifesaver when folding my scooter and taking it onto transport or into buildings. Basically, it's a small attachment to the back of your scooter that puts small wheels perpendicular to your back wheel. This is amazing, as I don’t have to lug my scooter around. All I have to do is push it. This one is really convenient if you use your scooter on the metro or buses.

There are a couple of other accessories I would put on here, but they are less necessary than these. If you’re planning on using your scooter for any of these scenarios, I strongly recommend some of these accessories. You don’t need all of them for every ride, however they can make your ride smoother and more comfortable than ever.
